Gary Paffett returns to Germany for seventh round of DTM Championship

Posted 11th September 2015

MB Partners driver, Gary Paffett, returns to Germany this weekend, as DTM returns for races 13 and 14 of the season from 11-13 September in Oschersleben, which Gary and his Mercedes-AMG DTM Team will be contesting across the seventh race weekend.

Oschersleben, a track where Gary has fond racing memories, has hosted the DTM since 2000. The 3.696 km circuit varies in width from eleven to thirteen metres and undergoes a change in elevation of 23 metres. There are 15 turns, 7 left and 8 right-handers, making qualifying at this tough circuit crucial.

Gary, driving the EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM Car No. 2 with EURONICS/BWT Mercedes-AMG (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team ART), said ahead of the weekend:  "I like coming to Oschersleben. I've already been successful there. It's where I won my first race in German F3 in 2001, so I've got some good memories of it. Oschersleben is a tough circuit. It's quite bumpy with big kerbs and is very hard on car and drivers. It's also very tight and twisty, so overtaking is also pretty difficult. For that reason, qualifying is going to be very important. However, we had a good pre-season winter test there. I'm looking forward to the weekend. If we can get the car set up right, we'll have the chance to fight for a win."

Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM, added:"We are now entering the decisive third segment of the season with the races in Oschersleben. Our goal for this weekend is to defend our good standing in the various rankings and to reduce the gap in the drivers' and manufacturers' standings if possible. Moscow has shown how the field is now tightly bunched. Everyone on our team is highly motivated and working very hard in order to get the maximum performance from themselves and our cars. The high level of commitment displayed by the entire team makes me feel positive about the weekend."
