Gary Paffett to participate in Young Driver Test

Posted 17th July 2013

Gary Paffett, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Test and Development driver, will participate in the Young Driver Test at Silverstone on Friday.

The 32-year-old British racer, who is represented by MB Partners, has appeared in 71 official Formula One tests for McLaren since making his debut in 2001. Paffett has also done a considerable amount of work on the team’s simulator at their headquarters in Woking.

Alongside his commitments for McLaren, Paffett has competed in the DTM series since 2003, driving the EURONICS Mercedes AMG C-Coupé. He won the championship in 2005 and continues to be a title threat again. Paffett is currently fifth in the 2013 championship standings.

“Most of my work is done in the simulator so it’s a great opportunity to feel what the car is like on track so I can relate it back to the simulator,” said Paffett. “My main priority on Friday will be to help the team better understand the new Pirelli tyres ready for introduction at Budapest next week. I am looking forward to getting back in the car and giving as much feedback to the team as possible.”
