Gary Paffett, the Mercedes-Benz DTM driver, has been awarded the 'Laureus Medien Ehrenpreis;.
The driver, who has recently completed testing circuits in Barcelona in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One car, is in line to receive the award which recognises outstanding characters in sport.
Paffett raced in an AMG Mercedes C-Class for the Laureus livery team last season, winning the Oschersleben round in this 2006 spec car, and will receive the award on November 27th.
The ceremony will be held at the 'Witzigmann & Roncalli Bajazzoâ' with 400 guests from the world of media and sports expected to attend the event that is joint hosted by Edwin Moses and Boris Becker.
The 26-year old racer is due to continue his role in testing for the Formula One team in the first test in Jerez on December 4th.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes ace who scored 109 points in his first season in Formula One, is set to take over from Paffett on day two of the testing.
