Gary Paffett is ready for the next round of ABB FIA Formula E competition this weekend, as the all-electric series heads to Bern, Switzerland for the 11th race of the 2018/19 season.
Fresh from a fantastic qualifying performance in HWA RACELAB’s home race in Berlin - where he made it through to the super pole shootout, qualifying on the second row in fourth place, before an unfortunate racing incident plagued his race. Gary is now looking forward to what challenges the Bern city centre circuit will offer this weekend.
This weekend’s action will be the penultimate race weekend of the 2018/19 season and also marks the final European leg before the series heads to New York for a season finale doubleheader.
This is Bern’s first time of hosting a Formula E race, and motorsport only made a return to Switzerland last year. In Bern, the track will pose lots of challenges - the 2.7-kilometre layout encompasses a 50-metre change in elevation, making it considerably steep for a street circuit.
The HWA RACELAB team has had an excellent run of points recently, with the team scoring in all four of the previous rounds and Gary hopes the team can continue with its good momentum this weekend.
"We have improved consistently over the course of the season and want to compete at a high level at the final two race weekends,” Gary said ahead of the race. “Our qualifying performance in Berlin showed where we are now. We now want to back that up in Bern. We had a lot of time to analyse that race and know what we have to do. We feel well prepared."
